Edouard Vermeulen is born in Ypres on March 4, 1957. He graduates as an interior designer from Saint-Luc college, which introduces him to the world of volumes and materials.
In his search for a gallery to display his first discoveries, Edouard Vermeulen rents a space in the Couture House Paul Natan, Avenue Louise. A few years later, he takes over the House under the new name NATAN.

The Belgian fashion house Natan and the cosmetic brand Sisley came together in the very heart of the Parisian department store Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche, combining their expertise and shared love for beauty and quality in a “Pop-Up” space.
This partnership consolidated the elegance, expertise and femininity held dear by these two family companies, that share values passed down through generations: concern for the environment, expertise, entrepreneurial spirit, art and design.
To celebrate our 40 year anniversary, we organized a fashion show in Paris at Palais de la Légion d'honneur.
The photos are eloquent, the words inspiring, but to truly grasp the breadth of the House’s talents, nothing can replace art and material. To mark the fortieth anniversary, in collaboration with the Fashion Museum of the City of Brussels, we organized a sensational exhibition of 30 unique Haute Couture dresses at Espace Vanderborght.
Elegant, timeless, sophisticated, Belgian. All adjectives that precede the term Natan. Our signature style continued to evolve, characterized by a consistent thread of elegance, timelessness, and an architectural sensibility.
However, Monsieur Natan does not perceive himself as a typical creator or designer. He prefers not to align with the world
of fleeting trends, ever-changing colours, passing fads, and the rapidly evolving click culture. Instead, he finds his place within the realm of couture, a world of opulent fabrics, shimmering satins, feathers, and bold design choices.
It’s a world where the dream of radiating like a star, even for just one day or evening, can come true. This dream was vividly realised in Paris when Natan presented his couture collection, marking a moment of glory where craftsmanship, luxury, and aesthetics converged seamlessly.
In 2024, Natan marked a milestone with the official opening of its own corner at the prestigious Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche in Paris. This new location represents a key step in the Belgian fashion house's international expansion, solidifying Natan's position as a player in luxury fashion. The elegant collections, known for their refined cuts and timeless sophistication, perfectly align with the Parisian fashion culture, further enhancing Natan's presence in the world of couture. This opening stands as a testament to the brand's legacy of craftsmanship and innovation since its founding in 1930.
